Reflecting on our success at the SME Northamptonshire Awards

The team from Acorn Safety Services celebrate their success at the SME Northamptonshire Awards

THE team at Acorn Safety Services was delighted to attend the SME Northamptonshire Awards earlier this month – a unique celebration of some of the brightest and best businesses in Northamptonshire.

Just four years after its launch, Acorn Safety Services were finalists in two categories, proudly walking away with the Silver Award for Best Enterprising Business, in recognition not only of its commercial success, but also its ability to pivot, developing new products and services quickly in response to the ever-changing needs of its clients.

In this blog, Operations Manager, Zeynep Guzelkasap, reflects on the company’s success at the annual awards and its bold plans for the future.

Acorn Safety Services: ‘Shaking up the health and safety industry one step at a time’

“They say that a week is a long time in politics, where a great deal can change in a very short space of time. I believe the same is also true when it comes to health and safety!

“Since the start of 2024, Acorn Safety Services has been on a mission, not only to grow the business, but also to take a bolder, more innovative approach to the health and safety issues our clients are facing. In a world where time is short and complying with ever-changing health and safety legislation is even harder, we want to provide solutions which really do work for everyone.

“This year, we’ve really pushed the boundaries of what’s possible, investing in the very latest technology to create a dashboard which empowers our clients to keep track of testing and risk assessments.

“We’ve also developed The Acorn Compliance Antidote© – an A-Z process that takes you from non-compliance through to full compliance with the government’s rules, regulations and laws, making it the only fully documented and systemised compliance management process in the UK.

“Not only that, but we’ve continued to grow and develop a new arm to the business which offers end-to-end support for legionella – including testing, risk assessments and full documentation.

“Put simply, we’re constantly moving, constantly evolving and shaking up the health and safety industry one step at a time!”

‘A growing team to meet the challenges of tomorrow’

“With change, comes the opportunity to grow and develop the team and that has also been a key area of our focus in the first half of the year.

“We’ve been delighted to welcome Health and Safety Manager, Kevin Burt, Health and Safety Consultant, Kevin Gowe, Legionella Risk Assessor, Craig Matthews and Sales Administrator Abbie Bruce, each bringing their unique skills and experience to Acorn.

“All of our consultants are skilled in a number of disciplines meaning we can offer all of our services in-house, removing the need for us to rely on external contractors.

“Over the past 12 months we’ve built a strong reputation for expertise and first-class customer service, something we will continue to develop further in the months and years to come.

Reflecting on our awards success

“Having come so far in such a short space of time, the SME Northamptonshire Awards were the perfect chance for us to come together an celebrate our achievements.

“To win the Silver Award for Best Enterprising Business really was the icing on the cake and a marker of just how far we’ve come.

“To be able to share the stage with some of the biggest companies in Northamptonshire was an achievement on its own and we’re excited to use our experience at the awards as a springboard to bigger and brighter things.

“After such a remarkable start to the year we all feel that we are only just getting started, with many new projects currently in development. Watch this space!”
