Acorn Safety Services wins two health and safety awards in a week

Acorn has won the UK Best Health & Safety Consultancy award at the SME News Midlands Enterprise Awards and The Alan McArthur Unsung Hero Award at The Safety Health and Excellence (SHE) Awards

The past week has been incredibly exciting for us as we have won not one but two prestigious health and safety awards.

We were beyond thrilled to win the UK Best Health & Safety Consultancy award at the SME News Midlands Enterprise Awards which showcase the region’s industry leaders.

What are the SME News awards?

It’s fantastic recognition for our team to receive this top health and safety award and it speaks volumes about why clients are right to choose us when they are looking for  Health and Safety Consultants and CDM Consultants or when they need help with a range of services, including Construction Health & Safety Audits and Fire Risk Assessments.

These awards are SME News’ flagship awards and this title is highly sought after so it means a great deal to us. News of our award win has already appeared on the SME News website and we’re now looking forward to seeing our success featured in their celebratory awards magazine and in their winners’ directory.

The Safety Health and Excellence Awards

News of this fantastic win came hot on the heels of us learning that our health and safety manager, John Crockett, had won one of the most impressive national awards available to people in our industry.

John has been presented with The Alan McArthur Unsung Hero Award at The Safety Health and Excellence (SHE) Awards which celebrate innovation and achievements in the health and safety sector and attract hundreds of entries from across the UK.

During the past 45 years, John has helped tens of thousands of clients, including the likes of Bovis Construction, London Midlands Trains, HSBC Data Centres. BP, British Gypsum, Heathrow Airport, McDonald’s, Taylor Woodrow and Network Rail.

Since joining Acorn in early 2020, John has helped more than 600 of our clients with their health and safety needs and helped us to further extend our extensive range of services.

He has helped us to launch our Retained Health & Safety Consultant Service and has spearheaded the launch of our free 30-minute Health and Safety Review Surgery in which John takes organisations through Acorn’s 20-point Health and Safety Compliance Audit. This forms the basis of a complimentary Health and Safety Compliance Report that identifies where organisations are getting health and safety right and where their business may be at risk.

Thanks to John, we also now offer Construction Design & Management (CDM) Consultancy Services to give construction clients, principal designers and principal contractors peace of mind that they’ve appointed the right people and organisations to their project at the right time. We have also introduced fire risk assessment services.

John was up against tough competition, but it came as no surprise to any of us at Acorn when he won this highly respected health and safety award.

John is a mine of information when it comes to health and safety and his expertise are regularly sought by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the police and top universities. His expert guidance has saved countless lives, prevented many injuries and saved so many clients from issues that would have ended in prosecutions.

It’s no surprise that when we contacted clients to let them know we were entering John for the award we were flooded with testimonials from company owners and managers who didn’t hesitate to sing his praises. Time and again the same words kept appearing in their testimonials – ‘invaluable support’, ‘very knowledgeable’, provides ‘sound advice on all things Health and Safety’.

We are so proud to have John at the forefront of our health and safety team and are even more grateful for the support he offers to our clients and his colleagues.

Our award winning team

We have no doubt that the reason so many clients turn to Acorn for all their health and safety needs is because of John and the rest of our award winning team.

Quite simply, the people you’ll meet at Acorn Safety Services are talented experts who love their work. Our people do everything they can to be available when you need them. They’re only a quick call away and are always happy to offer advice, support and guidance.

We’d like to congratulate the team on their award wins which recognise all the hard work they produce for our clients.
